Rick obviously knows his stuff. This is a great primer for anybody looking into buying an arcade cabinet. Just as a note I own a Dream Authentics machine and I absolutely love it. You will not be disappointed. It is a fully assembled piece of art when it gets to your home. I only had to plug it in and push the button on the top of the machine and I was playing games within minutes. The arcade cab comes with a bunch of licensed games and they are all set up ready to go right away. No trying to figure out what each button does, it just works and feels natural. You can tell that Rick and his team really know what they are doing and love playing arcade games as well. I've had the pleasure of speaking with Rick directly and I could actually tell how excited he was for me to get an arcade cabinet in my home. I play it all the time and it's really the centerpiece of every party. All of my friends ask what game it plays and I always enjoy saying... what game do you want to play?Product details

A great read for anyone interested in arcade games and arcade hardware. Very thorough and complete. If you're thinking about buying an arcade machine, read this first!
Read this book before building your own arcade.There's thousands of games, each one using a different system of controls & even if you're a purist that collects the original games, there's never enough room. A multi-cade is still necessary to play them all.
Rick's book is easy to understand & prevents people from making mistakes; better yet, have his company design a custom system for you. It will save a lot of time & you'll enjoy playing the games!
I want to start as I am a HUGE fan of the old arcade games as I grew up in the 80's. It was really a part of my and all of my friends lives. We'd search out all the local arcades and bowling alleys to find the greatest arcade games and try our best with a pocket full of quarters to get the high scores. We'd brag at school on how we found this Pacman game, or Donkey Kong, or table top Centipede game at the local pub or gym. We would laugh as the pub owners in Wisconsin would chase us out of the bar after a 2 hour session on Zaxxon when they realized our parents were nowhere to be found. It was our first time getting away from our house and the challenge of ME competing against the programmers of the games. I'd think the games would bait you like, "Hey Kid, try this game and it's only a quarter to play. Give it a shot." It became a constant challenge of me against the machine so to speak. Fast forward 20 years after all the arcades have dried up due to home gaming consules. My kids can play for hours and respawn any time they are killed. Not in the old days, 3 characters and maybe a bonus one if you're good and that's it. It was all skill. Well then MAME came out. MAME is a platform called Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator. It allows you access to all these classic games on line for FREE. Now that sounds great on face value. I downloaded MAME and some ROMS (the game itself) on my computer but playing Pac-Man on the keyboard wasn't the same. Next I spent over $500 on a control panel for my computer. It was OK but it was on a table in front of the computer, sliding around. Again, better but after a few games, the novality wore off. So, I decided I want the "Real Deal", true original arcade cabinets. If you look on ebay you can find almost every game... but they are thousands of dollars... EACH. Then they have some companies like in the Sharper Image Catalog for an all in one cabinet. Really cheap quality!! It's really only about 20 games and close to 4k. I considered building a cabinet and determined if you're not a master woodworker, electrical engineer, computer programmer, and have 100 hours of spare time, you'll be highly disappointed. It would be like building a car from scratch. You could try but most likely, it will suck. Sorry but true.
I called Rick at Dream Authentics and he heard my story (many times before) and we constructed and incredible gaming machine with over 5,000 games, custom graphics on the panel and sides, and stainless steel joysticks (much more fun than plastic). I've had my cabinet for 10 years. Yes, 10 YEARS and it's still absolutely mint. Looks like I bought it yesterday. Just recently we talked about upgrading the computer (as it is 10 years old ) and he was quick to respond with a plug and play solution. DA is simply the BEST company in this arena.
